List of Open Doors Children and Young People Who Require Sponsorship

At the current rate of exchange, US$100 is about N14, 000. This would pay for one child’s Special Education fees for a 4-month term.

 

1.        Chukwuadika 

She can not yet talk. The father works for a company that is facing financial difficulties and cannot pay him. The parents are paying the N1, 000 ($7) monthly language therapy fees, but cannot pay the

·         Special Education Fees – N3, 500 ($25) per month.

 

2.        Ifeanyi

He is not able to walk. His parents withdrew him because of extreme financial difficulties. We asked the family to bring him back since he will regress if doesn’t come, especially since he needs physiotherapy everyday so he can learn to walk.

·         Monthly Special Education fee: N3, 500 ($25) 

·         Monthly Physiotherapy fees: N2, 000 ($14)

3.        Judith

She is a twin.  She cannot walk. Parents are traders.

·         Special Education Fees: N3, 500 ($25) per month;

·         Physiotherapy N2, 000 ($14) month

4.       Joanne

Judith’s twin sister. She can walk, but she has a hearing loss.

·         Special Education Fees: N3, 500 ($25) per month.

5.       Isaac

He has cerebral palsy. He can walk, but not well. . Parents withdrew him when they met financial difficulties, so we brought him back as non-fee paying.

·         Special education fees: N3, 500 ($25) per month;

·         Physiotherapy N1, 500 ($11) per month.

6.       Chidimma

Her parents poultry business recently failed and they could no longer pay her fees. We agreed to take her on as non-fee paying.

·         Special education fee: N3, 500 ($25) per month;

·         Physiotherapy N1, 500 ($11) per month.

7.       Saint

Family medical problems prevent them from being able to afford Saint’s fees.

·         Special education fee: N3, 500 ($25) per month.

8.       Jonathan

His mother is a widow. 

·         Special Education fee. N3, 500 ($25) per month.

9.        James

His family pays his fees. He also needs speech therapy, but the family can not afford to enrol him for this.

·         Speech therapy costs N1, 000 ($7) per month.

10.     Samuel

His mother is an HIV/Aids widow who is also infected.

·         Special Education fee: N3, 500 ($25) month;

·         Vocational Training Fee N1, 000 ($7) month.

11.    Raphael

He stays in Jos with his brother who is a student at the University of Jos. He helps support himself and his brother by petty trading in the market after school. He is beginning to learn to read and write and do a little arithmetic.

·         Special Education Unit: N3, 500 ($25) month;

·        Vocational Training: N1, 000 ($7) month.
